Senecio cineraria
Commonly known as silver ragwort, Dusty Miller is a drought tolerant plant prized for its silvery grey foliage and lace-like leaves. We designed these in collaboration with author / stylist, Hilary Robertson and purposely incorporated realistic details of faded leaves and petals, as well as bug holes to capture nature’s nuance. Effective massed together in a tight, low arrangement, it can also be mixed with late fall flowers like Cosmos or Black Barlow.
The large arrangement in the White Buranchi Vase features two stems of Dusty Miller, two stems of Black Barlow, and two stems of Chocolate Cosmos, cut to various lengths. The arrangement featured in the Tracie Hervy White Slim Vase features approximately six stems of Dusty Miller and one bunch of Dried Tallow Berries.
Note that stems and flower heads are flexible, and can be cut with strong, heavy-duty clippers. Petals and leaves are made of upcycled fabric from PET plastic bottles, while the stems and leaf bones are Recycled Polyethylene (rPE). These are assembled by hand from ethical producers in China.
