Caribbean Craft is a woman-owned company in Haiti that has a strong commitment to social responsibility and the environment. Founded by Magalie Noel Dresse, the company supports Haitian artisans with fair wages, health and accident insurance, a pension system, and more. After the devastating earthquake of 2010 Caribbean Craft launched a successful meal program that fed over 300 artisans for several years. The company also collaborated with World Vision to train and give paid work to 1300 refugees artisans who transformed discarded materials into simple jewelry and paper maché products. In 2011, with the help of the Clinton Foundation, Caribbean Craft started a literacy program for artisans and workers to learn to read. By 2014 the entire team could read and write, whereas only 53% of the Haitian population is literate.
