Rubber Tree Tineke Kokedama, Ficus elastica tineke, Ficus Decora Tineke

Native to India and Indonesia, the Rubber Tree Tineke features bold, painterly strokes of reddish-pink tones on the outside of the green and cream foliage, the sheath at the top of the stem is a deep burgundy-red color. The Fiscus Tineke is one of the highly variegated varietals within the Rubber Tree family and easy to grow for both beginners and Kokedama pros, though these tend to have higher light needs in order to maintain their beautiful leaf colors.

Take care as Rubber Trees are toxic to cats and dogs.

Kokedamas are an ancient form of Japanese Bonsai that dates to around 1600 AD. These living planters are made with moss, soil, twine, and a plant. They have a sunny disposition and are low maintenance.

Kokedama plants come with either a Tray for Basic Planter, Grey Patina or Tray for Basic Planter, White Patina. They also pair well with our Wrought Iron Planter Stand in Small, sold separately here as well as our Granite Stands and Goblet Terra Cotta Planters.

Please note that the plants you receive may be smaller and less mature than the ones photographed. They will be eager for growth in their new home!

Provide a location with bright, indirect light; but avoid burning your rubber tree in direct sunlight. Ideal temperatures range from 60º to 80º. Cleaning the leaves will promote better light absorption for photosynthesis. Simply use a damp cloth or sponge and wipe them down and rotate the pot every few weeks to help maintain its dramatic variegation.

Keep it away from draughts, dry heat and  AC units. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer weekly at quarter strength or at half strength every two weeks. Stop fertilizing during the winter when plant growth slows.

Take care as Rubber Trees are toxic to cats and dogs.

These will be shipped directly to you from our grower within 7-10 days; any other Bloomist purchases will be shipped separately. All orders will be shipped via UPS or USPS generally on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, and only in the Continental US; we cannot ship internationally nor to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Live plants are shipped on a weather-permitting basis. If the forecast calls for cold temperatures along the shipping route, we'll hold your plant for the minimum number of days required to ship it safely.  Temperature swings in shipping can sometimes cause a temporary shock to a plant causing one or two leaves to yellow. This does not impact the health of the plant. Simply remove the leaves and care for the plant as directed. Live plants cannot be returned or exchanged. Contact us immediately if any issues with your order.
