Powdery Grey Ceramic Vase

Finished in a cool, powdery stone glaze, this Oval Vase is hand-thrown from stoneware with a compact, rounded form and a soft mid-grey surface that feels dense and even to the touch. The understated tone sits naturally between the eggshell and charcoal colorways, making it the most versatile of the three.

ABOUT SHELDON CERAMICS

Founded by ceramicist Peter Sheldon, Sheldon Ceramics is a hand-throwing studio based in downtown Los Angeles, just off the LA River. The studio draws inspiration from the industrial landscape around it — weathered surfaces, slow transformation, the raw materials shaped by geological forces over millions of years — and channels that into minimal, functional stoneware.

Each piece is thrown by hand on a wheel, and every glaze is formulated in-house, measured to the gram and fired repeatedly until the color and finish are exactly right. The result is a palette that draws in light rather than reflects it, designed to age with the kind of quiet grace that comes from being made to last.

Sheldon's work traces the universal language of pottery — the same forms appearing across Japanese, Southeast Asian, European, and Mexican ceramic traditions — and reinterprets them with reverence and ongoing study. His stoneware is non-porous and built for daily use, the kind of pieces that become more personal the longer they are lived with.

Product Care

Wipe with a soft dry cloth to dust. Hand wash with mild soap and warm water only if needed. Not dishwasher safe.

These vases are ideally safe for fresh flowers on wooden surfaces, but we recommend testing for water tightness first. Fill the vase with water and place it on paper over a non-porous surface for 24 hours. See if moisture appears beneath the vase.
