Ficus microcarpa 'Ginseng' + Chlorophytum comosum

Upright and Arching

Ficus Ginseng rises above the moss ball on woody stems with small, glossy leaves, while the Spider Plant gathers around its base in narrow, green-and-white striped foliage that arches outward.

Often grown as a ginseng ficus bonsai, Ficus microcarpa 'Ginseng' has a compact, tree-like habit. Chlorophytum comosum grows in spreading clumps and can eventually send out slender stems carrying small plantlets.

Together, the two plants grow from one hand-formed moss ball. Kokedama, a Japanese plant ball technique, encloses the roots in soil and moss rather than a conventional pot.

One Moss Ball, Shared Care

Keep the plant in bright, indirect light. An east- or north-facing window suits both plants, while prolonged direct sun can scorch the foliage.

Water by the feel of the moss ball rather than a fixed schedule. When it feels noticeably lighter and dry at the surface, it is ready to soak. Drain it thoroughly before returning it to the tray.

Canopy and Cascade

The ficus maintains the taller framework while the Spider Plant spreads around the base. As it matures, the Spider Plant may send out long stems carrying small offsets, or pups, beyond the moss ball.

Trim browned tips or damaged leaves as needed. Dust can be removed from the ficus foliage with a damp cloth.

Each kokedama includes your choice of a white or gray patina tray

IN A NUTSHELL

Sunlight Icon

Bright, indirect light. An east- or north-facing window works well; protect the foliage from prolonged direct sun.

Care Icon

Water when the moss ball feels light and dry at the surface. Soak thoroughly, drain well, and never leave it standing in water.

Please note: Live plants may vary in size and appearance based on season and grower availability. Plants will continue to fill out and develop their mature characteristics over time.
