These cozy, soft throws are woven by a small company in Peru. Designed in Portland, Maine, the nuanced tinted neutrals are inspired by nature and are evocative of the Maine coastline. Sophisticated and refined, they can serve as a cuddly blanket for curling up on the sofa or as an accent on the back of a chair.
Crafted from luxuriously soft baby alpaca from high in the Andes in Peru, with a silky soft hand, these are truly heirloom pieces meant to be enjoyed for many generations.
When his world travels as a textile industry professional exposed him to the beauty and craft of handmade textiles, Evangeline founder Ben Ray had no choice but to return home with his family to Portland and bring them to the world.
He founded the company born from love for his native Maine, and named it after fellow Portland native, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, Evangeline.
“In every Evangeline piece I hope that I've captured a bit of the wild, the resilience, and the warmth of Maine with simple materials woven to be used daily.” -Ben Ray
Many of the blankets are made by small companies, some on antique looms in Maine, as well as in the UK, Ireland and Peru with an understated sophistication and a timeless quality that expresses both function and elegance.
These throws ship directly from Portland, Maine and cannot be shipped with other Bloomist products.
