From the Bloomist x NYBG collection, skilled artisans in the United Kingdom build each globe gradually around a single white orchid, layering the resin by hand so every petal stays in place as it sets. A UV filter in the resin keeps the colors from fading over time. The finished surface is polished smooth, the flower visible from every angle, exactly as it was when it bloomed.

More than a functional paperweight, it’s a small decorative object that preserves nature’s beauty in lasting form. On a desk, shelf, side table, or bedside table, it brings a small piece of the natural world into daily view while also serving as a weight for papers, notes, and open pages.

The Steere Herbarium at NYBG has preserved botanical specimens since 1891, keeping each plant intact so its structure stays readable long after the original is gone.
