Star Bright Farm

Founded by husband-and-wife team, Mark Elmore and Helen Norman, Star Bright Farm is as much a concept and driving philosophy as it is a physical place. Twenty-seven years ago, the couple discovered and purchased a crumbling farm in Maryland with the dream of raising certified organic crops and caring for the land. They leased land to Helen’s brother to grow organic vegetables that he sold at the local farmer’s market, and this inspired their young son Peter to farm the land. Some years later, Peter studied regenerative, organic farming at the University of Vermont and in 2017 returned to Star Bright Farm to be head farmer. Today he presides over 22 different types of healing herbs and small fruits organically grown on 6+ acres of land. A quarter century after being rediscovered, Star Bright Farm is now a model of organic and regenerative farming practices, widely acclaimed for its farm-to-home products, Barn Market, and special events.
