Araucaria heterophylla

The Norfolk Island Pine originates from Norfolk Island near New Zealand and is beloved for its beautiful dark needles and tall, sprawling appearance. During the holiday season residents in South Pacific countries transform these prized pines into “living Christmas trees” ablaze with lights. Our Norfolk Pine encapsulates the proportions and beauty of these giant trees on an intimate scale.

Norfolk Pines do best in bright, indirect light or partial shade, generous humidity, and moist, but not sopping-wet soil. Fertilize with an organic, balanced 20-20-20 all-purpose feed; once per month from autumn through early spring. Increase to every other watering session when the days are longer and more light is available.

Highly sensitive to cold, drafts, and sudden changes in temps. We love using these during the holidays as unexpected accents on the dinner table or mantle. They are extremely easy to care for and live on longer, many years after the holidays are over.

Potted plants come as shown in their growers pot covered with moss set into a small terra cotta Basic Planter,White Patina with a Tray for Basic Planter, White Patina. They also pair well with our Wrought Iron Planter Stand in Small, sold separately here or propped on a Granite Stand.

Also available as a Norfolk Pine Kokedama.

Please note that the plants you receive will be smaller and less mature than the ones photographed. They will be eager for growth in their new home!

All plants are non-returnable / non-refundable / not eligible for discounts.

These will be shipped directly to you from our grower within 7-10 days; any other Bloomist purchases will be shipped separately. All orders will be shipped via UPS or USPS generally on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, and only in the Continental US; we cannot ship internationally nor to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Live plants are shipped on a weather-permitting basis. If the forecast calls for cold temperatures along the shipping route, we'll hold your plant for the minimum number of days required to ship it safely.  Temperature swings in shipping can sometimes cause a temporary shock to a plant causing one or two leaves to yellow. This does not impact the health of the plant. Simply remove the leaves and care for the plant as directed. Live plants cannot be returned or exchanged. Contact us immediately if any issues with your order.
