Araucaria heterophylla
The Norfolk Island Pine originates from Norfolk Island near New Zealand and is beloved for its beautiful dark needles and tall, sprawling appearance. During the holiday season residents in South Pacific countries transform these prized pines into “living Christmas trees” ablaze with lights.Our Norfolk Pine Kokedama encapsulates the proportions and beauty of these giant trees on an intimate scale.
Kokedamas are an ancient form of Japanese Bonsai that dates to around 1600 AD. These living planters are made with moss, soil, twine, and a plant. We love using these during the holidays as unexpected accents on the dinner table or mantle. They are extremely easy to care for and live on long after the holidays are over.
Kokedama plants come with a Small Basic Tray in either White Patina or Charcoal Patina. They also pair well with our Wrought Iron Planter Stand in Small, sold separately here or propped on a Granite Stand or in a Goblet Terra Cotta Planter.
Please note that the plants you receive may be smaller and less mature than the ones photographed. They will be eager for growth in their new home!

Live plants are shipped on a weather-permitting basis. If the forecast calls for cold temperatures along the shipping route, we'll hold your plant for the minimum number of days required to ship it safely. Temperature swings in shipping can sometimes cause a temporary shock to a plant causing one or two leaves to yellow. This does not impact the health of the plant. Simply remove the leaves and care for the plant as directed. Live plants cannot be returned or exchanged. Contact us immediately if any issues with your order.

The pine was packaged and shipped well, it arrived in excellent condition. The instructions that came with it are simple and easy to understand, and very helpful considering I’ve never had a houseplant rooted in moss before. I definitely would have overwatered! The saucer is beautiful, the plant and moss ball are exactly as pictured. Would buy again or as a gift. I am an avid gardener and have many houseplants, and I understand why the price point is where it is—this is a very healthy specimen, definitely a good value.

This Norfolk Pine arrived in perfect condition, is healthy and strong, and is adjusting nicely to life at home with me. It was packed well, so it was not damaged in shipping, and I was SO happy that the packaging itself was completely recyclable and biodegradable. Shipping was very quick and without issue. The plant that arrived was smaller than the one shown, but that possibility was made clear in the description, so I was expecting it/not surprised. I am happy with the size and delivery for the price. I highly recommend.
