Evenfall
Textiles expert Melissa Miller was working with the fashion brand Jungmaven when she was first introduced to the wonders of hemp, a sustainable fiber that’s so good for the earth that it was planted near the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in an effort to take advantage of its ability to absorb heavy metals like cadmium and nickel from polluted land. “Hemp has been in my vocabulary since I've been working on home textiles, which is over 10 years now,” Miller says. “It has this really incredible hand feel, and the way it dyes, the way it prints, it has this real sort of signature rustic look to it — and that can be really appealing aesthetically. It’s an incredibly soft and super-durable fabric that is much more about feeling soft and cozy.” It’s also at the heart of her Evenfall line, a collection of premium hemp bedding including quilts, sheets, and duvets with sustainability built into every aspect of its production process — from the near-elimination of single-use plastics in shipping to the gorgeous design, made to be treasured for generations.
