Inspired by the romance and poetic feel of the city of Udaipur, this stunning copper and sage green linen pillow cover is designed in New York and made entirely by hand in India. The linen is handwoven on traditional looms before being hand block-printed by a small cooperative of master block-printers in a village near Jaipur. The pillows reverse to the same print on the back and feature subtle nuances that make each one-of-a-kind. The linen is stonewashed, emphasizing its luxurious, soft, and durable qualities. Additionally, the linen drapes nicely, adding to its luxurious and soft appeal.

The deceptively simple stamping process requires incredible skill, practice, and generations of knowledge. Block-print artisans are passionate about their craft and use techniques that were mastered and passed down by their fathers and grandfathers to tell a story of craftsmanship, human touch, and of the people and families behind the craft.

ABOUT SOIL TO STUDIO

Soil to Studio is a Brooklyn based textile design studio founded by Swati Bansal in 2019. Born and raised in Udaipur, India, Swati was exposed to various crafts by her mother and grandmother and spent vacations drawing, painting, and embroidering bedspreads. After a career in banking, she followed her passion and fully dedicated herself to working with the craft communities in India, learning about various weaving and printing techniques and applying those to Soil to Studio creations. The company’s mission is to empower the families behind the craft, preserve local craftsmanship, and continue to create sustainable livelihoods. The artisans set their own wages and Soil to Studio is committed to following fair trade practices in all aspects of the business.

Washing Instructions

Wash your linen pillow cover in cold water on a gentle cycle to prevent shrinkage and damage to the fabric. This gentle approach helps maintain the linen’s natural strength and softness.
Use a mild detergent that is free of bleach and harsh chemicals. This preserves the fabric’s integrity and keeps the colors vibrant.
Avoid using fabric softener or dryer sheets, as they can leave a residue on the linen that can affect its breathability and texture. Keeping the fabric free from residues ensures it remains soft and comfortable.

Our pillows are now available to purchase with or without our premium down inserts. We think this is better for you and the planet - we recognize not everyone wants or needs an insert. As a result they will ship without being pre-stuffed, so please show them a little love and stuff them when they arrive.

Please note all feather/down inserts are sized up an extra 2" for a super cozy + full fit.
