A specialized terracotta planter shaped around the way orchids grow

From the Bloomist x NYBG collection, this handcrafted terracotta orchid pot pairs a gently tapered profile with vertical openings designed to give orchid roots greater exposure to air while allowing excess water to move freely through the planter. Finished in the collection’s signature Garden Sage, each pot carries its own nuances in tone, texture, and surface—a reflection of the work behind every piece. An included coordinating terracotta tray completes the set for display on a tabletop or plant stand.

Orchids hold a special place at the New York Botanical Garden, where they are celebrated each year in the renowned Orchid Show. The exhibition highlights the remarkable diversity of orchids and the extraordinary ways these plants have adapted to thrive in nature. Designed specifically with orchid culture in mind, this vessel gives their distinctive roots a more suitable place to grow while putting the plant itself on display. It’s a functional planter shaped by one of the Garden’s most enduring botanical passions, and made in limited quantities for the Bloomist x NYBG collection.

Complete the collection with our coordinating Garden Sage Basic Terracotta Planters, available in six sizes for everything from small botanicals to larger statement plants.

Meet the Maker

The Bloomist x New York Botanical Garden collection is an exclusive assortment of nature-inspired and handmade goods designed for the home, the garden, and the everyday. This collaboration brings together two brands that have long shared the same belief: the natural world deserves our care, our craft, and our attention.

Bloomist is a home and garden shop with a mission to “make nature home,” offering live and dried botanicals, artisan planters, handmade textiles and decor, kitchen and pantry goods, outdoor living essentials, and small-batch bath and body products rooted in natural materials and craftsmanship.

The New York Botanical Garden has spent more than a century at the forefront of plant science, horticulture, and education, with 250 acres in the Bronx and a research footprint that reaches around the world.

Bloomist x NYBG is a celebration of beautiful products with purpose—a limited collection that includes terracotta planters, orchid pots, garden tools, watering cans, gardener’s soaps, home goods, and more.

A portion of proceeds supports NYBG's plant research and conservation, horticulture, and education programs. NYBG® is a registered trademark of The New York Botanical Garden.

Product Care

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Use a well-draining orchid medium, water thoroughly, and allow excess water to drain completely before returning the pot to its tray. Keep drainage openings clear, protect from freezing temperatures, and clean gently with water and a soft brush.
