A hand-thrown terracotta planter in six sizes for gardens of every scale

One of Bloomist’s signature designs, the Basic Planter has been reimagined for the Bloomist x NYBG collection in the Garden Sage finish. Crafted by artisans in Sabanagrande, Honduras from locally sourced terracotta clay, its gently tapered silhouette works across a wide range of plants and spaces. Porous terracotta allows soil to breathe, while a drainage hole at the base helps excess water escape for healthy planting indoors or out. Each planter is finished by hand, leaving subtle differences in tone, texture, and surface that preserve the character of the clay and the touch of its maker, and a coordinating terracotta tray is included with each.

Available in six sizes, the collection supports the growth of herbs and compact houseplants to fuller foliage and substantial garden plantings. Use a single size on its own, group several together for a layered planting, or add height with our coordinating Wrought Iron Stands (sold separately).

NYBG’s Home Gardening Center uses model gardens and changing plantings to show the many forms a garden can take. Created with that same versatility in mind, the Garden Sage Basic Planter gives gardeners a versatile vessel in a colorway created especially for this collaboration—one design, six sizes, and countless ways to plant.
