Anthurium Andraeanum

A charming little plant with passion-red, heart-shaped leaves with yellow- to green-tinted "white" flowers and distinguished by a straight flower spike. The anthurium is a tropical native grown mostly as a houseplant in North Americaโ€™s cooler areas and as a landscaping plant in USDA zones 10 or higher.

Anthuriums are toxic. If you have pets or small children, reconsider growing anthurium, or keep it out of reach.

Kokedamas are an ancient form of Japanese Bonsai that dates to around 1600 AD. These living planters are made with moss, soil, twine, and a plant. They have a sunny disposition and are low maintenance.

Kokedama plants come with either a Tray for Basic Planter, Grey Patina or Tray for Basic Planter, White Patina.

They also pair well with our Wrought Iron Planter Stand in Small, and the Round Pedestal wood base and the Jikoku Wood stand shown here, all sold separately.

When to Repot:

When you begin to see the root structure of the plant protrude out of the moss ball, it's time to consider moving it to a pot.

Repotting Steps:

  1. Find a pot: Choose a pot that is roughly 1/2" wider in circumference than the moss ball.
  2. Add Potting Soil: Fill the bottom of the pot with potting soil. Add enough soil so that when the ball is placed in the pot, the top of the ball sits slightly above the top of the pot.
  3. Place the Ball: Place the entire ball (string and moss included) into the pot and add soil around it.
  4. Soil Level: Ensure the top of the ball sits 1/2" above the soil line.
  5. Water and Adjust: Water the plant and add additional soil if needed to maintain the proper soil level.

Shipping Logistics

These will be shipped directly to you from our grower.

Any other Bloomist purchases will be shipped separately. All orders will be shipped via UPS or USPS generally on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, and only in the Continental US; we cannot ship internationally nor to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico.

Live plants are shipped on a weather-permitting basis. If the forecast calls for cold temperatures along the shipping route, we'll hold your plant for the minimum number of days required to ship it safely.ย ย Temperature swings in shipping can sometimes cause a temporary shock to a plant causing one or two leaves to yellow. This does not impact the health of the plant. Simply remove the leaves and care for the plant as directed.ย Liveย plants cannot be returned or exchanged. Contact us immediately if any issues with your order.ย
