Ficus deltoidea

Hardy and Bright Bonsai

The Mistletoe Fig Bonsai forms shiny, spatula-shaped leaves with light green tops and yellowish undersides, marked by small triangular glands. Native to Southeast Asia, this ficus earns its nickname from the small orange and red fruits it produces, resembling mistletoe berries. In traditional Southeast Asian medicine, all parts of the tree have been used for their believed healing properties.

The handmade Speckled White vase adds a soft, neutral foundation that pairs easily with natural, minimalist, and modern interiors.

Easy Care and Beginner-Friendly

One of the more beginner-friendly bonsai species, the Mistletoe Fig adapts well to a wide range of lighting conditions, from partial or direct sun to lower-light environments. It prefers temperatures between 45–80°F, away from heaters and AC drafts, and benefits from fresh air when windows are open on mild days.

Water when the pot feels about half as light as it does after a full soak typically every 5–7 days. To water, submerge the pot up to the rim for 5–10 minutes, then allow it to drain thoroughly. During hotter or drier periods, expect to water more frequently.

A Symbol of Good Luck

In Feng Shui, the Mistletoe Fig’s wood element is associated with growth and prosperity. Its rounded leaves are thought to symbolize good luck and monetary gain, while its two-toned foliage represents balance. The species is also connected to the Chi of “Xun,” believed to encourage smoother energy flow and support stronger communication and relationships.
