To keep your Gränsfors Bruk Small Forest Axe in top condition, follow these care guidelines:

Sharpening: Use a coarse whetstone or grinder for wear; file deep nicks evenly. Finish with a fine whetstone and leather strop.
Rust Prevention: Wipe clean and oil the axe head before storage. Keep the sheath and bit dry.
Handle Care: Maintain with linseed oil stain. Untreated replacement handles should be oiled or stained.
Linseed Oil Stain Recipe: Mix 1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 balsam turpentine, 1/3 burnt umber linseed oil paint. Apply, wait 15–20 minutes, then wipe off.
Storage: Keep dry but avoid excessive heat to prevent handle shrinkage.
Proper Use: Designed for cutting and carving. Only a Splitting Maul’s poll can hammer a wedge. Never use other axes as hammers.
