Baby Alpaca Throw with an Original Artwork

Katrin Bremermann's composition of two sweeping forms fills a 53" x 70" field on the Berlin Reversible Throw, woven in Peru from 100% baby alpaca. It functions as a throw on the sofa and as artwork on the wall.

Two Faces

Both faces carry Bremermann's full composition, face one with dark forms against a pale ground and the reverse with the same forms in the inverse palette, pale against deep dark. The piece offers two distinct readings. A rolled hem with ivory blanket stitching runs the perimeter, visible from either side.

The Fiber Behind the Artwork

At 1.5 lbs, baby alpaca insulates efficiently, the hollow fiber structure trapping warmth across the full field. Pull it across the shoulders, and the brushed surface settles softly against the skin. Darkest Spruce/Bone sets deep spruce against pale bone, the dyed alpaca achieving a contrast that reads sharply at room distance. Ivory/Coffee draws both tones from the raw fleece with no dye applied, the palette warm and unhurried.

ABOUT BLACKSAW

During a motorcycle trip into the Andean mountain range in South America, Steph and Kyle Taylor discovered the region’s beautiful alpaca fiber and hatched the idea of building a sustainable business around it. They named their company Blacksaw. The company’s goal was to create “meaningful possessions” from eco-friendly, sustainable materials; long-lasting, timeless pieces that are worthy of taking up space in your life.
