Botanopia
Lise Lefebvre was raised in “a tiny village” near Paris but lives in the Netherlands, where she earned her master’s degree at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Now she works across disciplines: “drawing, painting, cutting, stitching, melting, knitting, baking, spraying, weaving, molding and generally making things.” For Bloomist, she’s contributed porcelain germination plates, which can be used to grow seedlings from avocado pits, acorns, pineapples, pileas, and more: “This is the first plant-related product I designed, and also the product that made me launch the Botanopia brand,” Lefebvre says. The piece, she says, is a response to her work connecting her home with the wilderness she loves. “I take walks in nature as often as possible, and I'm always collecting interesting leaves, seeds and other treasures — my pockets are always full of beautiful acorns and chestnuts,” she says. “I've wanted to grow them in a way that would still show the beauty of the seed, instead of burying it in the ground. That’s why I designed the porcelain germination plates.”
