Dried Tumbleweed Salsola tragus
Evocative of sweeping prairies and the wild west, Tumbleweed brings an element of rustic surprise indoors. Also known as Russian thistle, tumbleweeds were originally native to the arid grasslands of the Ural mountains in Russia. Russian settlers first introduced it to the U.S. in the 1870's, when it was mixed with flax seed in South Dakota.
We love the sculptural quality of these dried forms and recommend medium and large sizes as unexpected decorative accents in fireplaces, on top of armoires, or hanging from the ceiling in clusters. Small and medium tumbleweeds can be arranged in our Papier Maché Bowls (both sizes pictured) or displayed on a table as part of a vignette.
These are collected in the west, cleaned and dried dried out before shipping to you directly from our supplier. Tumbleweeds are naturally quite prickly. Handle with care and use gardening gloves for extra protection.
Due to the natural state of dried botanicals, each is unique and varied and some breakage may occurring in shipping. Sizing is approximate. (You can’t measure nature.)
