These organically shaped baskets are woven from ilala palm outside the city of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The Tonga women pass down their traditional weaving techniques, utilizing the abundant plant life that continues to sustain their families. Like the gourds that inspire their forms, no two baskets are alike and can vary from the shape as photographed.

Materials: Local Milulu grasses, natural dyes

Dimensions:
The baskets are measured using a soft tape measure like a seamstress would use. The tape is run from the center of the base of the basket, around the curve of the bowl, then up the neck. As shown in drawing The measurement is NOT a straight LxWxH.
