Designed and produced entirely in Japan, the country that invented the ancient art of ikebana, these solid Steel Ikebana Scissors are indispensable tools for floral arranging and ikebana. The elegant handles and extra sharp blades are forged from a special kind of Japanese steel by metal artisans in Tsubame-Sanjo, an area famous for its metal works and wood works. This steel lends itself to exceptional sharpness and rust resistance.

Those interested in ikebana, the Japanese art of rigorously crafted natural arrangements, will find a welcome ally in Asano Mokkousho’s specially made — and deceptively simple — ikebana scissors. An acute-angle blade, made from high-quality Japanese steel, ensures that stems are cut cleanly, without harming natural fibers, which ensures a longer life in the vase; the satin-finish handle is similarly both beautiful and functional. “It not only looks good,” Rieko says, “but is also slip-resistant for safety and peace of mind, and will not slip off unexpectedly during work.”

ABOUT ASANO MOKKOUSHO

We chose to bring you these specific Japanese tools because we admire the maker’s 70+ years of expertise, extraordinary craftsmanship, and use of high-quality materials. Family owned since 1950, Asano Mokkousho was born of the union between Teisuke Asano, a farmer’s son, and his wife, Sakae Sasagawa, daughter of a Tokyo manufacturer. Asano wanted to make farmers’ lives easier by designing and crafting high-quality tools while city dweller Sakae wanted to share her love of nature. They melded their rural and metropolitan values and together founded Asano Mokkousho. Seven decades later the company exports a broad range of authentic Japanese gardening tools all over the world. Designers and human engineers continuously refine the company’s original designs to reflect the needs of the user, ensuring each tool is as comfortable to use as it is efficient. (Read more)

Fabulous Scissors

These little cuties fit my hand just right, and the blade is perfect for cutting flowers. I bought 2 with the intention of giving one away, but they are so nice that I ended up gifting both and now I have to buy another pair! Lovely quality & design.

Great addition to my kitchen

Just received these and very happy with them. They are perfect for cutting flowers I’ve brought home, even thick stemmed ones. Pretty, elegant and sleek design. Highly recommend.

Substantial Scissors

These are beautifully made and incredible sharp. I love them and have already used them in the garden. I was originally looking for a smaller set & didn’t realize that these are really meant for cutting twigs and larger stems, versus deadheading, so I will be ordering the smaller scissors when they are back in stock. Only downside is I have pinched my hand between the handles a couple of times- need to figure out how to hold them to avoid that. But as I said they are beautiful & I’ll continue to use them.
