Black oak is a common, medium-sized to large oak of the eastern and midwestern United States. It is sometimes called yellow oak, quercitron, yellowbark oak, or smooth bark oak.
As the Chinese proverb goes, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." This little seedling will ultimately grow to 80 -100' tall with aaa average life span of up to 200 years. A medium grower, you can enjoy nurturing it and transferring to sequentially larger pots before transferring outdoors. As a deciduous tree it wil change color and drop their leaves in the fall and leaf out with dark-green foliage in early and mid-summer. In forest stands, black oak begins to produce seeds at about age 20 and reaches optimum production at 40 to 75 years. It is a consistent seed producer with good crops of acorns every 2 to 3 years.
Full Sun / Partial Shade / Cold Hardiness to -40º

Live plants are shipped on a weather-permitting basis. If the forecast calls for cold temperatures along the shipping route, we'll hold your plant for the minimum number of days required to ship it safely. Temperature swings in shipping can sometimes cause a temporary shock to a plant causing one or two leaves to yellow. This does not impact the health of the plant. Simply remove the leaves and care for the plant as directed.Live plants cannot be returned or exchanged. Contact us immediately if any issues with your order.
