Stoneware Match Strike Pot

Crafted in Evanston, IL, this vintage inspired match strike is hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel by Julia Finlayson, and is available in both a grey finish and a matte black glaze. Julia uses a dark clay that is then glazed matte white to create the grey finish, and the same clay body to create the matte black glazed version. The handcrafted nature of these products may result in slight variations in dimensions and glazes.
Use with Strike Anywhere Matches, not included, available at your local hardware store.
Julia Finlayson is a ceramicist who started collecting vintage match strikes about ten years ago. She loved the history, the ritual, and the aesthetic of match strikes, and began experimenting with her own shapes, sizes, and color glazes. A new generation of match strikes was born!

stoneware match strike pot
This was a gift and the recipient loved it. It's very well crafted and will be a treasured object.
Great product but poor marketing
This little ceramic piece is lovely, however, for the matches to work, you need to purchase strike anywhere matches which are not only hard to find, but are highly combustible and downright dangerous. Love the piece, so will be keeping it to store matches, however, it is ultimately useless.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I hope that you are able to locate matches that you prefer.
Smaller Than Described and Matches Don't Strike
Sadly, this pot is quite disappointing. Strike Anywhere Matches don't work with this, and the pot is smaller than described. The pot I received is 2 inches tall and has a diameter of about 2 3/4 inches. So quite small and Strike Anywhere matches don't in fact strike. Not the functional piece I was wanting, and though a pretty little pot, far too little for the price.

Experience was wonderful... personal and just the touch that's missing with most online interactions! So helpful with styling tips and suggestions. I look forward to using Bloomist for my next project.

Finding something you didn't know you needed...... that is what happened here! I was browsing through this website, and came across this strike pot and knew I had to have it! It is absolutely perfect alongside my candles!
Such a good point - minimalist way to organize matches
