This large serving spoon and fork set is hand-crafted and hand-finished by skilled woodworkers in the Peten region of Guatemala using only sustainably harvested, locally sourced, FSC certified Tiger wood (Jobillo) from the heart of the Guatemalan jungle. Tiger wood is reddish orange with dark streaks.

Each utensil is crafted to enhance the natural grain, texture, and hue of the Tiger Wood. These can be used as serving spoons or as a salad set. The FSC Certification denotes wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.

Itza Wood was founded by Suzanne Bararczy and Eliza Bararczy with a simple mission: to break the poverty cycle in the Peten region of Guatemala. The company funds various social initiatives – including employment and education - that help enhance local economic growth. “We put people and our planet first providing craftsmen with favorable work environments and wages,” explains Eliza. 

In order to deepen the company’s commitment to one of nature’s most lush, beautiful treasures, Itza’s reforestation initiative planted 45,000 trees in the heart of Guatemala’s Peten jungle.
